Farmers Market and Recyling Drop-off Sucess

Our Farmers Market and Recycling Drop-off was a huge success. We had a beautiful, sunny day that helped to bring out many neighbors, friends, and families in our community to see our school. Overall, it was a great success. Our Farmers Market and recycling drop-off produced a community awareness for recycling and has allowed our school an opportunity to reach out and connect with the community.

Do Division Fest

St. Nicholas Cathedral School's Garden club members and their parents participated in the Do Division street fest on June 5 and 6, 2010. It was a success, passing out over 200 handmade bird feeders made by members of the garden club with help from the 6th and 7th grade classes. Our enthusiasm was electrifying and attracted many people to our booth. Our school has a lot to offer and we need to let everyone know about the hidden gem, St. Nicholas Cathedral School.

Thank you to all the students, parents and volunteers for helping with this event. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Earth Day Celebration

On Thursday, April 22, 2010, St. Nicholas Cathedral School held a special celebration for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by unveiling a new school garden. The 7th grade class and a group of dedicated students in the Garden Club led by Mrs. Melissa Talaber Matwyshyn and the principal Mrs. Maria Klysh-Finiak prepared a raised bed native butterfly garden. The celebration included presentations on recycling, nutrition, and native prairie gardening which provided insight into the importance of valuing and respecting our environment.

Parents and guests helped in celebrating the importance of this project along with the students, teachers, and staff of St. Nicholas Cathedral School. Among those in attendance included Fr. Nalysnyk, Fr. Kryvokulsy, Alderman Waguespack, 13th District Police Commander Judy Martin, and interested community.
